http://sandfibers.blogspot.com/2010/07/saturday-windowshopping-with-sand.html

I was also in a few treasuries, I have never made one before I dont know how people are finding me! Its pretty awesome though.

On a different note, I was thinking about doing a random giveaway drawing from my facebook fans once I reach 100 followers (I am at 78 now), what to you think does it sound like a good idea?

More photos from the craft fair soon :)

My First Craft Fair

The set up of the booth

This saturday was my first craft fair! I brought my yarns, baby booties, knitted toys, scarves, and hats. I have been preparing for a long time, so it was great to see everything laid out together

Mike and I standing behind the booth

The baby bootie display!

The baby booties were the biggest draw! Everyone came over to look at them, and I cant even count how many 'awwwww' 's and 'how cute!''s I got that day, but not a single pair sold! I dont know what to do about that, maybe they will sell better online? We will just have to see

The yarn display rack that my dad made for my yarns, it only blew twice which was not so bad :)

The table of toys, scarves, and hats. The little purple octopus sold, but the rest goes online!

First custom order!

Finally done!!

http://www.etsy.com/transaction/30870813

Well, first custom thing MADE (its for a trade actually). She made me a few pairs of wooden earrings, and I made this beautiful blue shrug. I am almost a little sad to part with it, I had to totally re-do the collar because it was too small, but other than that it went pretty quickly.

I found the lace pattern online, and tried to figure out the best way to turn it into a shoulder shrug. I had never made a shrug before! I think it turn out really well considering, and unfortunately I have no idea where the yarn is from (I wish I had some more so I could make something for myself!!). I was given it as a gift, and only know its 100% wool, and so beautiful. There are many shades of blue, and it looks like a wave of the sea.

I told Felix it he was going to be famous, but he seems unimpressed

ITS BEEN SO LONG! (A picture review)

Hello Everyone, it has been so long since I was on here. A lot has happened. I finished up my school year, and am now working.

But before that... I graduated from Sarah Lawrence! A fantastic four year, I will miss it.

My mom and dad were there:

I wore a beautiful dress I got from a fellow Etsian :)

I took some beautiful pictures of my yarn, this is my favorite.

I will be doing a craft fair in mid July (ALL YOU PHILLY PEOPLE, COME!!)

Ive been knitting like a mad woman... roses to put on headbands, squids, cell phone cases, toy octopuses, a stegosaurus, slippers, socks, baby clothes....

Can't wait to have more pictures to put up here!

Sculpture class - working with nature

So last semester I spend a lot of time gathering leaves for one of my ideas. It acctually turned out quite well.. The project was 'becoming animal' and we went to the zoo and everything. Here are some pictures of what I made:

My bird had a plaster shell, now covered over in leaves

I used a bunch of different kinds of leaves, all from my neighborhood

He was a big hit!

I first made a wire frame, and covered it with plaster to make a thin shell. I then glued leaves over every part, the longest feaher like ones for the wings, and then small wire-y ones for just under his beak. I think he turned out fabulously, and he got a lot of compliments! What do you all think? He now permanently resides in my dad's study :)

Welcome HOME again

More recycled yarn here! http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=43316313

Hello Everyone! It has been such a long time since I have written, silly Sara! Its been quite busy in my life for the past two weeks, but the past three days have been bliss...

I went on a 4 day road trip with my two good friends from college for the start of our spring break. We went, of all places, to colonial Williamsburg! It was so much fun, and since we were college students there on our own everyone who worked there could tell we were there because we were interested and excited, so they were all so friendly and generous.

I talked to the weaver for about 35 minutes, it was fantastic! She showed me her enormous looms (weaving, the next things I want to learn to do!) and told me all about how she dyes her wool - all of the things that they make in Williamsburg are made the same way that they made things in colonial times. I was just itching to try out the beautiful old spinning wheels... SO PRETTY! and then I was eyeballing her hand carders, because I do not have any and have been so curious about them. She showed me how they work, and then let me try them out! (I kept the little piece I carded in my pocket, it was so soft and fluffy)

Some of the thinnest prettiest yarn I've made yet!

It is so lovely to be home, I spent two straight says in the sun in clark and farmount park. More later, All the best
Sara
